When my boys were wee little ones, growing up and eager to take on board everything mummy had to say…. (oh how I wish they still did), I shared with them everything I was learning about holistic health including nourishing food. It was really important to me that my children grew up having a healthy relationship with food. I wanted them to understand and respect its purpose – to fuel our bodies, to nourish us, heal us, grow us.
When I came up with this smoothie recipe they were right into superheros including the avengers. They were so excited to try it because I called it the “hulk” smoothie. Instead of trying to disguise or hide the fact it had vegetables like spinach and avocado in it; I rather highlighted it and explained how they would grow up big and strong because of these additions.
Fast forward a few years or so and they still request this smoothie. They now also love experimenting with their own flavours and will often add some veggies too.
Hope you enjoy it as much as our family did!
Cheers,
Susan
